Synchronous Online Sessions
Synchronous online class meetings should usually be recorded and shared with enrolled students via Canvas. This helps ensure the accessibility of course materials to all students.
In-Person Classroom Recording
Many instructors find that students benefit from reviewing class lectures in in-person courses as well, so they opt to record their courses (i.e., lecture or classroom capture) and make recordings available via Canvas. The recommended tool for lecture capture at Emory College of Arts and Sciences is Panopto. For more information about how to record lectures in person, visit the Classroom Technology Team’s website.
Please note that classroom recordings that contain audio, video, or images of any students should not be shared outside of the context of the course without the students’ written consent or permission. It is also best practice to notify all students that class sessions are recorded and to remind students that the distribution of class videos is prohibited and will be considered an Honor Code violation.
